Eve Makis, our first confirmed author for the 2011 Unconvention, is appropriately a local to Nottingham. Her Greek Cypriot parents settled in England in the 1960s and Eve herself studied at Leicester University before taking various jobs in the UK and Cyprus as a local newspaper reporter, freelance writer and radio presenter. She now splits her time between writing, helping her husband run a ceramics business and looking after their daughter.

Eve was a very popular speaker at a local BookCrossing event in Birmingham in 2006, but this will be her first attendance at a UK Unconvention. When invited to speak, Eve responded that she would love to and that she was happy to take part.

Eve has written three books, with her first novel, Eat, Drink and Be Married winning the Booksellers International Book of the Year award.

For more information about Eve and her writing, visit her official website by clicking here. If you would like the opportunity to read some of Eve’s books before the Unconvention, please visit the bookrays page.
